2012 Ovation Awards Winner - "Best Sustainable Renovation"This character home on the east side of Vancouver was designed for a family who enjoys the comforts of today’s technology yet loves the character of the home and neighborhood. Taking advantage of the space, partition walls were removed to create an open space where the family can spend time together and entertain. The top story addition was added to provide the family of 4 with more space by adding a new master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, large private deck and a bedroom for the children.The newly renovated home has many energy efficient upgrades with an in-joist hot water heating system complete with programmable thermostats and a high efficiency on-demand hot water system.“Create No Waste” was a full on recycling pilot project. Materials were carefully dismantled in the home rather than sent to the local landfill creating a huge burden on the environment. All items were tracked in detail in order to obtain a high degree of accuracy with the recycle / reuse rate. At the completion of the project, Statistics from Light House Sustainability revealed that an 86% recycle/reuse rate was achieved!
